“Swimming Hole” is slowly drying in my studio. It is apt that I completed the painting just as the swimming season is coming to an end here in the mountains. Looking at the painting now gives me a warm feeling of days past, both distant and just past. My application of paint with the palette knife is very thick. The leaves from the unseen tree on the right, the last touches added, are sculpted and three dimensional. They will have to be protected each time the painting is handled until it finally finds its home.
