Music in the mountains, in progess

“Music in the mountains” is evolving; it is a work in progess, suspended until the temperature in my studio rises.  At the moment it consists of two independent pieces making up a whole.  I spend a lot of time studying the canvases and a third panel is taking form in my brain.

When I am in the midst of a painting I find this format, pieces of a whole, gives me the opportunity to enlarge upon the idea or break it down, while the larger theme is always physically present.  Each piece stands on its own and is also a part of a much bigger painting, a “detail” of sorts, a large mural in pieces.

It also means that at this moment I do not know exactly what the end result will be. Right now, it is what you see.

spring is a long time to wait to continue, but i guess it gives you time to ruminate. have you sketched any for the third panel? i would love to see that.
